Artist in Residence: Call Me Loop

We’re thrilled that you’ve decided to stay with us again for Glastonbury festival 2023 – what was the biggest factor in you making the decision to come back?

Honestly from the moment I arrived at the reception desk (via very helpful buggy that brought us and our baggage around from the car) and was presented with my welcome cocktail, I said the words ‘Well that’s it then, there’s no going back now, Pop Up Hotel forevermore!’ It was just such an idyllic experience from start to end, I wouldn’t be able to do Glasto any other way now.

What did you love most about your room?

I mean, so many things – it was so spacious, but so cosy. The fairy lights were such a gorgeous touch. And the complementary toiletries. Practically, the plug sockets for phone charging were life-changing! And of course, the beds.

Any packing tips – what will you be taking more / less of next year?

Less breakfast snacks! Because I obviously had to treat myself to the eggs and smoked salmon every morning so ended up taking all my breakfast bars etc all back home with me again after. And more disposable cameras so I can capture even more memories.

Every year we try to make our hotel site just a little bit more ‘wow’ (it is getting tough though) – what was your favourite part?

The pool! Big wow factor. But the whole site is just stunning to be honest.

Many guests head straight for the pool particularly when the weather is hot.  Did you take a dip or do any lounging?

Haha yes we did! We were so lucky with the weather this year so we made the most of it and had a couple of morning dips pre/post-breakfast to shake off the hangover and get us ready for the day ahead. Absolute game changer.

Full festival days and a lot of partying must have made you hungry. Did you get a chance to check-out our restaurant and bar and, if so, what did you like about it most?

Yeah, as previously mentioned, the breakfasts were phenomenal. And on the Wednesday eve after we’d got settled, we had a bottle of fizz and burgers whilst lying by the pool… heaven. The bar staff were great as well, all super friendly and chatty whilst making us our cocktails!

We like to host a couple of welcome evenings before the festival gets into full swing – did you have the opportunity to partake and, if so, how was it for you?

Yeah, the Wednesday eve, we just settled in around the pool for the first couple of hours with some food and drink, and then moved into the restaurant to watch the sunset whilst the DJ got the vibe going. Perfect first night to warm us up for the crazy few days ahead.

Our spa and wellness centre is hugely popular with guests who want to feel and look their festival best.  Did you get the opportunity to visit? Will you be sampling the spa in 2023?

I did! I had my hair done once and my friend went every morning, each time coming out with a different amazing hair style, and also treated herself to a quick pre-festival massage! Next year I’m 100% making more of the spa and glam team.

What was your favourite part of the 2022 festival and what / who are you hoping to see in 2023?

I don’t know if I can possibly pick one favourite part to be honest… it was just the most magical weekend, made all the more special after two years of delay. Little Simz and Burna Boy were incredible. The weather made it perfect. Bumping into so many friends I hadn’t seen for years. And of course, my first Pop Up experience. In 2023 I would LOVE to see Eminem… and The Spice Girls… and Elton John… and Rihanna… if even one of those rumours is true I’ll be absolutely gassed!

Any hints / tips for Glastonbury first timers both for the festival and for staying at The Pop-Up Hotel?

For the first timers: Bring layers!!!! Clothes for every weather eventuality. A mini backpack and a bumbag is always the best bag combo.

Don’t bring expensive sunnies!

You will most likely lose/break them. If you’re camping normally then take two phone chargers! And take lots of toilet roll… And basically just get ready for the best 4 days of your life.

For the Pop Up first timers: Get there Wednesday to enjoy the perks of the site! Make sure you have a cocktail by the pool. Get ready to be pampered!
